S. M. Tulsyan,

Circa 1970. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Birla Institute of Technology with 90% marks, Mr. S.M. Tulsyan joins his family business. In addition to owning the largest tannery in Kolkata and a chain of cold storages, the family also holds the largest distributorship of Tata Steel, spanning 27 stockyards across India.
Today, three and a half decades later, Mr. Tulsyan
has been instrumental in transforming the family business from trading to manufacturing identifying new business opportunities for growth and acquiring sick units and turning them into highly profitable businesses.
Achievement is not new to him though. Mr. Tulsyan was awarded the prestigious“Presidents Scout” by Dr. Radhakrishnan in 1964.  A keen sportsman, he has played billiards at the national level, winning two awards. He has also participated in athletics and swimming and won accolades at various levels.
Mr Tulsyan is passionate about photography and dramatics too. He was one of the founders of Bangalore Iron, Steel & Hardware Merchants Association (BISHMA) and has served as its president for seven terms since its inception in 1984.
